Sunday's Central United Methodist Church in Florence, SC 12-11-16

Hello and happy Sunday. Let's go to Central United Methodist Church in Florence, South Carolina today. This big and beautiful church has a website: http://www.centralmethodist.net/. It appears to be very much part of the community in Florence, so, if you're in town, take a chance on them. Love seems to be the major theme from Central United Methodist as far as I can tell, and we do need more love everywhere in this country and beyond.

Monday Love 05-09-16

Hello and happy Monday. I'm thinking a little love is in order today. I have for you a flower from the hibiscus that my sister, Toni, and I bought to pay homage to our mother, to her life, to her love of life, to her beauty - inside and out - to her adventurous spirit, and to all the love, laughter and adventure she brought to our lives and to those knew her.

I've always liked the hibiscus flowers, but I just never looked at them closely until now. There's more to them than just a pretty flower. They are beautiful - inside and out - just like our mom.

Happy Mothers Day 05-08-16

Hello and happy Sunday. It's Sunday and it's Mothers Day. What a great day. This is a photo of, I believe, Mary, virgin mother of Jesus, outside the Sacred Heart Church in Tampa, Florida. Sacred Heart Church was established in 1860. Mary, virgin mother of Jesus, is one of, if not THE most important mother of all time. After all, if she hadn't carried and delivered Jesus, there would be no such thing as Christianity. There are some religions that do not believe that Jesus is the Savior, but, I have read that those religions may still consider him a great prophet. I have always liked the Catholic Church, even though I am not Catholic, because of their love for women and the acknowledgement that women matter and that mankind cannot exist without us. And it makes me wonder why so many people and so many countries feel and treat women as inferior to men. All people are important. It's Mothers Day today. Let's celebrate our mothers.

I had the most wonderful mother and I will love her until the day I die and beyond. I hope that all of you had/have wonderful mothers as well. I hope you have all shown your mother some love and appreciation today. If you are a mother, I hope you were celebrated by those who love you.

Take Me to Church on Sunday 01-17-16

Hello and happy Sunday. Welcome to First United Methodist Church in Mt. Gilead, NC. It is located on the corners of Main and Allenton Streets. As far as the history of this church, I would like to share that with you but, I could find nothing on the internet. It looks like it has been there a long time and every time I drive by this great looking church, I smile. It just makes me feel good. I don't know why but it also makes me feel loved. I think that's a lot of how we're supposed to feel in life - smiling because we feel good, are good and because we love and are loved. On Sundays maybe we just get a little more of those feelings because of the churches we attend and the people who surround us.

I Heart Friday! 01-15-16

Hello and happy Friday. There seems to be love in all things. This tree root is showing its love with a heart that is filled with the goodness of green on a winter's day. It's overflowing, actually, just like our own hearts should be with love towards one another, this great Earth, Universe, and for all our many blessings.

Sunday Steeple 01-03-16

Hello and happy Sunday. This year, on Sundays, I think I will bring you a church - or at least a part of one. This country has no shortages of churches so I think I can come up with 52 of them. While there is only one God, there are many different ways to worship - and I hope I can show many of the different types of buildings used for that purpose. Maybe I can give a little history about the particular church and we can all learn something. Religion is a very personal choice - we choose what we want to believe and join others who feel the same. I want you to know that I feel that everyone is entitled to worship the way they want and I make no judgements as long as there is love felt and given. My God is a loving God and I won't show churches that I learn are spreading hate toward others.

With that being said, the steeple you see above comes from a church of love. This is Camp Creek United Methodist Church in Lancaster, SC. This church was founded in 1798 by Bishop Francis Asbury. My maternal grandparents went to this church; then my mother; then she brought in my father and, of course their three children. This is where I learned the love of God from people other than my parents. I grew up coming here almost every Sunday, I learned all the books of the Bible, how to pronounce difficult words and names (and there are many), and how there are different opinions, different ways of interpreting the same Bible verse(s), and how each interpretation may be right. I learned that thinking and asking questions is OK! People here weren't all "my way or the highway", but encouraging and loving. The people here really make this church a welcoming and loving place.

It was truly a great Church for me to grow from child to adult. One of my sisters and her two sons still attend. It's still the place I go sometimes. Feel free to check them out.

Moon Love Monday 12-28-15

Hello and happy Monday. Today I want to give you the moon. You probably know the old saying, "I see the moon and the moon sees me. God loves the moon and God loves me." I photographed this moon the day after Christmas. On Christmas it was a complete full moon, but where I was there were clouds and I didn't see it at all. A friend of mine did and posted a picture of the full moon through a telescope and it was great! A day later without a telescope and just a little less full and in between cloud cover and this is what I got. I'm going to need to save up for a telescope!

Above The Clouds on Christmas! 12-25-15

Hello and happy Friday. Merry Christmas!! Sometimes I wonder how God views the Earth. Does God sit above the clouds and look down with super zoom vision to see every nook and cranny and every person walking above? When God isn't using super zoom vision and sees something like this photo I took from a plane, is there a thought such as, "How beautiful the creation appears"?

As I see this photo, I do think how beautiful the sky, the clouds and the ground look from above. And I wonder how, if everything looks so lovely, how can it ever be bad? Yes, sometimes looks are deceiving, people are deceiving and things are not always well. Today I am really missing my mother, who went above the clouds to be with God earlier this year. While the emotional pain is almost unbearable at times, I am so grateful that I had her in my life, that I was blessed to have her for my mother and that she will always be with me in spirit.

But today, today is Christmas. Today is a time for joy, for family, for fellowship, for gratitude, for Jesus. For me, today is peace, love, forgiveness. Today ALL is well, just as I perceive it to be in this photograph. When I look at this scene I think of a song called "From a Distance", sung by Bette Midler. Look it up on youtube.com and listen to it if you care to and you'll hear the beauty that I see here.

Sunday Love 12-20-15

Hello and happy Sunday. I can't believe the weekend is almost over. I told my cat, Effie, this and she just looked at me in disbelief. My work days are very long and she misses me when I'm gone. Since I'm on the computer now and she can't get petting, she has curled up and pressed behind me. She is one loving cat. Love is what life's all about. There are a lot of kinds of love. I appreciate all the love I have in my life. This Sunday I feel love and I hope you do as well.

Wednesday's Treat 11-11-15

Hello and happy Wednesday. Today I want to show you my cat, Ayla. Ayla loves treats. She and her cousin, Effie, get a treat or three when I leave in the morning and then again when I get home. So, if I'm lucky enough to be at home most of the day, and ask if they want a treat, I get a great response. It's just love, pure love - or a little hunger. I'm going to take the love; and give her a treat.

Nature's Kiss and Hug (X and O) Tuesday. 11-03-15

Hello and happy Tuesday. As you know, last week I was fortunate enough to go kayaking. I love being out in nature . I love it even more when nature loves me back. I'm hoping you see the love, too - the X and O, or Kiss and Hug as I like to think of them. This was my first time kayaking this area and I'm glad it loves me because I love it, too, and I plan on kayaking here for many years to come.

Monday's Looker

Hello Monday. Yes, you're right - I do like herons. I've posted many of them on here. And this one is a real looker. He's gorgeous to me. This may be one of the very rare times that I've gotten a photo from my kayak that is so sharp. I love looking at it, I just don't have that much to say about it. I just keep looking. Two for Tuesday

Hello. It's Tuesday. Here are two napping kitties for your Tuesday. I gaze at them and suddenly I want a nap too. Just so inviting. But, for now, I need to stay awake. I'll catch some zzzzzzzzzs later. You know, cats/kittens are so very nice. And when there are two, well, that's twice as nice. They play with each other, fight with each other, and, as you can see, nap with each other. You know a lot of things come in twos - we have two hands, two eyes, two ears, two legs, etc. It's no wonder that we want to find someone special to pair with to do all the things we love - even sleeping. Having that special someone makes everything you do feel better, more interesting, more entertaining. At least that's the way I feel.

Monday's Got Heart

Hello to you this Monday. Sometimes on Monday's you're so overwhelmed you "can't see the forest for the trees". Sometimes, though, you get lucky and Monday's - like this tree - show you some love. And a little love on Monday is kind of nice. And, if someone like me is lucky enough to see and get this photograph, then I get a little giddy. Now, on this Monday, I want to share this tree's heart so maybe you'll smile just a little and feel a little love. We all could use a little more love, right - so why not enjoy it from wherever it comes from - like this tree?

Monday's Looking Up

So, I think all of you know by now that I love flowers. Those of you who actually know me probably know what flower this is. While I was going through my pictures from yesterday this caught my eye. And, since I just love it, I am going to share it with you. I have many pictures of this flower so you may see more during this week. I might even tell you what it is and where it can be found. They are in bloom now and only stay for a very short period of time so I must make haste to capture as many of them and in as many different ways as I am able.

Wednesday's Rose

Wednesday, lucky Wednesday. You made it through half the week, only two more days to go. According to Wikipedia, there was a group of people in 1942-43 called the White Rose. They were a group of students from the University of Munich, who, along with their philosophy professor, called for the active opposition of Adolf Hitler's regime. The six most recognized students of this non-violent, intellectual resistance group were arrested by the Gestapo, tried for treason and beheaded in 1943. They are now honored in Germany. Whoa! Didn't expect that when you saw a picture of a white rose on my blog, did you? I didn't either. I was just looking up the meaning of the white rose and found the Wikipedia article first. Interesting.

Another check of the Internet for the white rose did find what I was looking for.... that the white rose stands for "marriage, spirituality and new starts". (from the proflowers.com website) White roses stand for purity and ceremony. And, for me, love. Always love.

Sunset Good Friday

The boats are quiet tonight on this Good Friday sunset. Maybe they're not all fishing boats, but when I see this picture I think of the phrase Jesus used about "fishers of men". This is a special Friday and weekend and reminds me that I believe God is love! I do believe in Jesus and God and I do believe that God is love. I also believe that a lot of hate, war and murder is erroneously credited to God. People choose to believe what they believe and some people really do believe that God wants war and God hates. I prefer that God wants what John Lennon sang about in the song Imagine. Can't we all just get along and love each other, no matter what? When we spread and nurture seeds of love, then hate cannot grow.

Sunday Skylights

We all love skylights. We put them in our homes, they're in businesses, and we look for them in our vehicles. They let in a little more light and make our areas seem more spacious. Of course the first skylights came from the sky. I was reminded of that just the other day as I was driving home. I had a little extra time on a sunny day and took a side trip to Lake Tillery, NC dam. Water was flowing over the dam and I enjoyed making photographs and as I was there, the sky became cloudy and dark within just a few minutes. I thought it might rain soon so I prepared to leave. But as I turned to go I saw this sky! I know this photo does not do justice to the wonder I felt as I gazed upon the wondrous skylights that had just been given me. I only hope that you can look at this and feel just a little of the awe. Scientists are always trying to explain why we see what we see in the sky. I applaud their efforts and enjoy reading and listening when they share their knowledge. I also enjoy taking time not to care about the science of what we see when such loveliness is before me. It's in those moments that I just want to "be".

Wednesday loving on the rainbow

So who doesn't love rainbows and ole St. Nick? And when the rainbows are in the house, well that just has to mark a person as special! Yep, that's my St. Nick. Yep, that's my rainbow. For some reason (I felt I was "special") that rainbow would appear every day. I never really figured it out, but when I moved St. Nick the rainbow stopped coming. I'm guessing now that I wasn't the one that was "special". Yes, I love Christmas and everything that comes along with Christmas I keep things in my house every day that remind me of Christmas. At Christmas time people seem a little bit nicer and family seems a little more important. Why wouldn't I like that? Why wouldn't anyone like that?

It's been a long time since I've seen that rainbow in my house and I miss it. When I look at this photo I remember the feeling I would get when the rainbow came. And at that moment I feel love - - and peace.
