Hello and happy Tuesday.  I really need a little happiness today so here it is - a Bluebird.  This little Bluebird helps me smile.  Smiling makes me happy.

I hope there was something that made you smile today.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Lucy Rules Wednesday 04-27-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Wednesday.  I have a portrait of my dog, Lucy, today.  I don't think that I have ever put Lucy up on the blog so, today is the day.  Lucy is close to ten years old and she is still a pretty and loving and energetic "pup".  She even "prances" when she walks and that makes me smile.

I hope you had something to smile about this Wednesday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Polar Bear Toy Love on Wednesday 04-13-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Wednesday.  What does a Polar Bear love more than cold temperatures, cold water and her boyfriend?  Well, her favorite toy, of course!  This is Anana loving life and her toy at the Asheboro Zoo in North Carolina.   She looks so peaceful and happy and I smile just looking at her.

I hope you smiled a lot this Wednesday.  If not, grab your favorite toy and start playing!  Thanks for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Take Me to Church on Sunday 01-17-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Sunday.  Welcome to First United Methodist Church in Mt. Gilead, NC.  It is located on the corners of Main and Allenton Streets.  As far as the history of this church, I would like to share that with you but, I could find nothing on the internet.  It looks like it has been there a long time and every time I drive by this great looking church, I smile.  It just makes me feel good.  I don't know why but it also makes me feel loved.  I think that's a lot of how we're supposed to feel in life - smiling because we feel good, are good and because we love and are loved.  On Sundays maybe we just get a little more of those feelings because of the churches we attend and the people who surround us.

I hope you have a sensational Sunday whether or not you attend church.   Thanks for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Monday's Moth 11-16-15

Hello and happy Monday.  Today I have for your visual pleasure a moth that I found on the windshield of my car.  I thought it was pretty cool.  I spent a little time on the internet looking for what this particular moth is called to no avail.  Oh well.  At least it took the time to land on my car for a while and let me enjoy him and take some photos.  And, to me, it looks as though it has a face in its thorax (the part that connects its head and its abdomen).  The face sort of looks like it's smiling.  And smiling on Monday is a good thing.

I hope you had a smile filled Monday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

It's Only Wednesday...

Copyright AJ Horton

Hello on Wednesday.  Okay, so this is my first attempt to add a little saying to my picture.  How did I do?  Did I do okay?  Did I detract from my photo?  Or did I make you smile?

I don't know.  It's Wednesday.  It's been a long day.  I don't have much to say, so I'm taking a chance.  I'm going to leave it on here tonight but I don't know if I'll do it again.

I hope you had a great Wednesday.  I hope you don't have any angst about what you do tonight.  I thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Staring Down Monday

Copyright AJ Horton

Hello on Monday.  Today I, along with this damselfly, am staring down Monday.  Mondays always seem to be a challenge.  So, I stared it down - and won.  Well, that, and a whole lot of work.  This damselfly reminds me of a day when, while someone else might think kayaking is work, I was at play.  I liked very much that this damselfly landed on my kayak to stare me down.  It was a win - win situation for me.  I won by being able to play on the water in my kayak, and I won by being able to make a photo of this character.  So now, on days that might not be that great, I can take a thought break from the day and think of and relive this day of kayaking.  Moments later I am ready to continue in the present.

How about you?  How do you get through a tough day?  Do you just hunker down and plow through it knowing it will be over eventually?  Or, do you take a moment, relive a great memory, smile, and then get back to the day feeling just a little bit better - maybe even a little bit energized?

However you do your days, I hope you had a momentous Monday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Friday's Flower Power

Copyright AJ Horton
Happy Friday to you all!  I hope it was a good one for you.  This is a special little flower I found today growing in a driveway away from grass or any other flowers.  This was an unexpected greeter flower - one that said "Hello" to me as I drove in - one that said, "I'm happy to see you".  Okay, so I'm crazy, because I heard this little flower greet me, and I smiled.  I was grateful (still am), that I enjoyed this lone flower and, that this flower was there to greet me.  This was an emotionally hard day for me and this flower was a much needed distraction for just a few minutes.  This flower had the power to transform me from an emotional wreck back to a grateful human being.   I needed that.

I hope your Friday was normal, ordinary and uneventful.  I hope you're going into the weekend happy and hopeful.  I hope there was something unexpected that made you smile today.  If so, think about it now and smile again.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Tuesday's Heart Rocks

Copyright AJ Horton

Yes, this is a rock.  I found this on my kayaking trip the other day seeing my "special" flowers.  To me it looks like a heart.  Plus, something I didn't see at the time I took the photo, it has a hitchhiker!  I do not know what kind of insect that is.  I zoomed it but can't figure it out.  I guess I'll just say I have a black spot on my heart.  I figure if we live, we all have something that rides on our hearts - some good, some not so good.  Those things that help add texture.  Those things that stain.  Those things that chip away at and reshape it a little; maybe even harden it somewhat.  You know what I mean - all the hurts, big and small.  Then there  are those things that fill the heart and make it puff out - all the smiles, fun, laughter, friends, family, etc.  Hopefully all the good stuff beats out the bad and our hearts stay more light than dark.  I believe that we can use our minds and intentionally decide which way to go.  I know I'm still a work in progress, but I'm concentrating on my heart being more light than dark.  How about you?  Is your heart beating out the darkness?  I hope so.

I also hope you had a great Tuesday.  Keep on rocking that heart!  Watch out for hitchhikers. See you tomorrow.

Good Morning Monday

Copyright AJ Horton

Say goodbye to the weekend and hello to Monday!  No matter what the outside looks like, it is going to be a great day.  Yes, Mondays bring an element of wonder - I wonder what's going to happen at work; I wonder if it will be busy; too busy; if everyone will show up; if I'm going to make it through today.......

As you walk that Monday pathway just remember, this too shall pass and Monday will be over in a flash.  And once this Monday is gone, you won't ever have it again.  So, make the best of your Monday.  Go through your day with a sunny heart and smile on your face and no matter what happens throughout the day stay calm.  On this Monday, let everyone else wonder what you were up to on the weekend that made you so happy today!!

Have a great Monday.  Thanks for looking.  See you tomorrow.
