Hello and happy Saturday.  It was very hot today and I had to work, so I was in air conditioning.  The thing is, although I enjoy my work and I like doing what I do, I would much rather have been kayaking here.  Yes, it would still be hot here, but the view is so much better!

I hope you had a wonderful Saturday with a great view.  Thanks for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Mini Vaca Tuesday 01-26-16

Copyright 2015 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Tuesday.  Let's take a short board walk to the beach, walk in the sand, play in the surf and build sand castles.  Yeah, I wish.  But one day I did, and I took pictures, and when I want to reminisce I look at the photos I took both with my camera and in my mind and I smile.  Sometimes, taking a few minutes to sit back, relax, and remember a good place, a good day, a good friend or loved one helps to carry us through the day.  It's important.

It's also important to work, to have a purpose.  I like the work that I do and I hope you do as well.  Work can be satisfying and rewarding.  Many times we form life long friendships from work.  Other times work is frustrating, maddening, long and hard.  That's why we need vacations - so we can have all the fun we can stand for a while until we have to go back to work.  That's also why, when we can't take a vacation, we must take little breaks from work - even if just for a few minutes - to relax and think of something else, something soothing, maybe something fun!

I hope you had a terrific Tuesday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Screened In Sunday

Copyright AJ Horton 2015
Hello on Sunday.  So, I hated it, but today I had to do some heavy duty yard work and I was not looking forward to it.  When I stepped out onto the screened porch, what do you think I saw?  This guy - and another fine feathered friend semi trapped and somewhat panicky because, even though they found their way into the porch they couldn't find their way out.  So I found my camera and came back out.  The guy you're looking at found his way out pretty quickly after I came out.  (There are spaces above the scalloped area you see above the bird with room all across the porch for departure.)  Number two bird wasn't as smart. To help number two I opened both of the screen doors and just got out of his way for a couple minutes and out he went.

Just a little bit of distraction for me on a physically exhausting home work day helped me focus and power through.

I hope you had a great Sunday.  I thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Window of Tuesday

Hello August 25th!  On top I have a window that I am lucky enough to see
every day I work.  Sometimes I like what I see - and I take a picture.   Some
days I don't take a picture.  This window is in the hallway and leads to an
outdoor patio that I am not allowed to see.  I can only see silhouettes through
this small window,  The view changes hourly - sometimes the sun is so bright
that there are no silhouettes.  And sometimes, I like to play with the photo,
like today, and put color to the scene.  It doesn't have to be the same color
each time I change it.  I just like to dream in color - haha.

No matter the day of the week or the hour of the day,  I always enjoy
seeing this window. I hope you had a terrific Tuesday, whether you had a
wonderful window at work or not. I thank you for looking.
See you tomorrow.

Flying by Thursday

Copyright AJ Horton
Happy Thursday.  Today I have a seagull for you.  There was a time I only saw seagulls at or near the beach.  This is not the case anymore.  This flighty bird was digitally captured in a parking lot far from the sea.  Apparently they will fly anywhere for food.  I can understand.  I work for food too.
And I have been known to travel far distances for the same.  I guess this bird and I are a lot alike; except that the only place I can actually fly is in my mind.

I hope you had an exceptional Thursday!  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Headless Monday

Copyright AJ Horton

Monday's here!  Back to work.  Remember your head!  LOL!  So many of us go back to work on Mondays and just put ourselves on autopilot.  We go through the day not thinking of how we could make things better for ourselves or others; not wondering about new ways of doing "the same old stuff"; we just do things the same way because, well, "this is the way I've always done it".  So we just trudge through the day hoping it will be over soon and we can go home.  But today I challenge you to take your head to work with you!  Bring it out from where ever you keep it on Mondays and use it.  Yep, it's the same old stuff today, but you can make it better.  You can have a different and better attitude.  You can find a new way of doing at least one thing differently today.  You can make today great!  And, at the end of the day, you can go home with your head up and know that this Monday was your best Monday.

My bird is a shy bird.  I found him in Charleston, SC.  He still takes me back to the fun I had on that day.  And he reminds me of how I, too, feel on Mondays.  So I'm going to take my own advice and go about my Monday with a better attitude as well.  I hope you have a wonderfully marvelous Monday.  See you tomorrow.

Saturday Idle

Copyright AJ Horton

Saturday's here!  Yay!  We worked all week for this.  Now what?  Well, as my friend from Cedar Key, FL would prefer, how about let's make it an "Idle Speed Only" weekend?  Sometimes you just gotta go for that.  This guy was hanging out at the marina one day and I was the fortunate one to capture him.  I'm sure he was a normal sight for the locals, but to a tourist like me, well, he was special.  And he still is to this day.  He has a place in my house as I try to remember that home is not just for working or cleaning.  I don't always need to be busy.  Home is also a place where I can be idle and just relax and put my feet up.  Saturday is a good day for just that kind of activity.

Whether you have a busy Saturday schedule or you just want to be idle like my friend, I hope you have a great day!  And when you've been too busy and want/need to be idle like my friend, please think of this guy and give yourself permission.  Thanks for looking.  I'll see you tomorrow.

Good Morning Monday

Copyright AJ Horton

Say goodbye to the weekend and hello to Monday!  No matter what the outside looks like, it is going to be a great day.  Yes, Mondays bring an element of wonder - I wonder what's going to happen at work; I wonder if it will be busy; too busy; if everyone will show up; if I'm going to make it through today.......

As you walk that Monday pathway just remember, this too shall pass and Monday will be over in a flash.  And once this Monday is gone, you won't ever have it again.  So, make the best of your Monday.  Go through your day with a sunny heart and smile on your face and no matter what happens throughout the day stay calm.  On this Monday, let everyone else wonder what you were up to on the weekend that made you so happy today!!

Have a great Monday.  Thanks for looking.  See you tomorrow.
