Monday's Beach Fun 12-12-16

Hello and happy Monday.  Instead of going to work, let's play hooky and go to the beach.  Yes, it's a little cold out there but we can wrap up in a blanket and sit and enjoy the wind and surf.  The birds won't mind that we're there - in fact, if we take some bread, they will love us.  If we do take some bread we will also have to take an umbrella to shield us from the "presents" the birds may drop on us when we feed them.  No matter what we do, what we take, or how long we stay, the beach is always a perfect get away.

Tuesday's Beach Longing 11-08-16

Hello and happy Tuesday.  Can we just go to the beach?  Please?  It is getting a little colder now and I go to work when it's dark and come home when it's dark and I just want some sunshine and salty water and sand.  Maybe this weekend I can drive over for a while, even though it's cooler now, and relax on the beach.  As long as it's sunny, I can layer my clothing.  Plus, a walk on the pier will be welcomed.

Beach Dreaming on Tuesday 09-20-16

Hello and happy Tuesday.  Do you ever feel the urge to just go to one of our fine, southern beaches - you know, sand, surf, palm trees?  Well, you can't go because you have obligations, responsibilities and such.  So sad.  You just have to keep dreaming, I guess.  Or, you could make your own beach in your yard.  Yes, that's it.  Just get all those old tires you have wasting away in the back, cut them, paint them green, nail them onto a post, plant it in the ground and bam - your very own palm tree,  You don't even have to water it.  Next, get a bunch of sand and spread it around the palm trees and your yard and - it's your very own beach!  I guess you'll have to get a recording of the ocean waves crashing along the shore to have the full effect of the beach feeling, but, it might make you feel better about not actually being at the beach.  Then again, to me, there's nothing that can compare to the real thing.  These palm trees, though, are really cute!  I like the imagination and the work someone put forth.

Saturday's Beach Flowers 08-13-16

Hello and happy Saturday.  This is a day for play and I sure did play today!  We went to the beach and it was awesome.  During the play, though, I took a moment to notice a little nature and admire it, be grateful for it, and photograph it.  This entire day was wonderful and it is days like this that I realize how much I have to be thankful for.

Monday's Beach Wishing 04-25-16

Hello and happy Monday.  So, last Saturday I went to the beach.  Today, on Monday, I'm wishing I was back at the beach.  To me, any day at the beach is a good day.  Of course I had to work today, so no beach for me, but it was still a good day.  Like the sign on our secretary's desk says, "It's a good day to have a good day."  We have to make the best of every day.  It would just be better if I was at the beach.  Oh well,  I can visualize or look at my pictures.

Hello and happy Tuesday.  I feel like going to the beach today. Of course, I can't go to the beach - I have to work - but I can look at my picture of the beach as the sun sets.  I can take myself there in my mind and imagine the wind, the salty smell, the birds, the sand, etc.  I can enjoy this moment.  I hope you can as well.

Marvelous Beach Monday 02-08-16

Hello and happy Monday.  Yeah, so it's Monday - that doesn't mean it can't be good.  Think about the little seagull on the beach.  Think of watching it as it goes to and fro and then flies a few feet away.  Think about watching the waves come in, then drag your problems out to sea again and again until you have no problems left.  Think about walking the beach, walking with your feet in the water just at the edge of the shore.  Think about reaching the pier, then walking on it to the end, seeing people enjoying fishing and camaraderie and sit for a while and enjoy the salt air blowing all around and smell all of the fragrances of the sea.  Oh yes, such a marvelous Monday!

Mini Vaca Tuesday 01-26-16

Hello and happy Tuesday.  Let's take a short board walk to the beach, walk in the sand, play in the surf and build sand castles.  Yeah, I wish.  But one day I did, and I took pictures, and when I want to reminisce I look at the photos I took both with my camera and in my mind and I smile.  Sometimes, taking a few minutes to sit back, relax, and remember a good place, a good day, a good friend or loved one helps to carry us through the day.  It's important.

It's also important to work, to have a purpose.  I like the work that I do and I hope you do as well.  Work can be satisfying and rewarding.  Many times we form life long friendships from work.  Other times work is frustrating, maddening, long and hard.  That's why we need vacations - so we can have all the fun we can stand for a while until we have to go back to work.  That's also why, when we can't take a vacation, we must take little breaks from work - even if just for a few minutes - to relax and think of something else, something soothing, maybe something fun!

Friday's Fly By At Sunset 01-22-16

Hello and happy Friday.  Today, here in my part of the South, we had a little bit of snow and a lot of ice.  The day was gray and, although I did take some photographs, I didn't get one that I really liked, so, I looked back to last week at the beach.  The beach at anytime is a great place to be, but a mostly secluded beach with seagulls flying into the clouds at sunset is even better!

Nowadays, when I find myself out at sunset, I think of the quote "I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in" by John Muir.  John Muir was a writer, naturalist and philosopher (among other things) who lived from 1838 to 1914.  John Muir founded an environmental organization, The Sierra Club in 1892.  The Sierra Club is still going strong today with more than 2 million members and has contributed to the passing of the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act and Endangered Species Act.  If you Google John Muir and/or Sierra Club you can learn so much more than I can give here.  You may even want to join the Sierra Club!

Friday's a Beach! 10-23-15

Hello and happy Friday.  Friday is one of the best days of the week.  And today, Friday is a beach!  That's right.  I'm giving you a trip to see the sunrise at the beach and you don't even have to leave your computer.  This particular beach is in St. Augustine, FL.  I stayed at a hotel on the beach before going to a seminar last week in Orlando.  I just had to get up early and take in the sunrise - one of the best parts of the day if you ask me.  It's a time to sit, be quiet and be grateful, and to make the best of each day.

Friday's Sunset Beach

Happy Friday to all.  As the sun sets this Friday I hope you have fun.  This particular sunset is from Myrtle Beach, SC.   Some wonderful sun rises and sun sets seen there.  Only a few people do not love the beach.  There was a time I tried to understand that but I've been working on myself to stop trying to understand others and just become accepting.  I'm finding that being accepting takes much less energy and I am better able to enjoy the things we do have in common.   Besides, that leaves more room on the beach for me and my loved ones.

Sand Dollar Sunday

It is Sunday and I am thinking of the beach.  On the beach I spied a Sand Dollar.  A Sand Dollar is a burrowing sea urchin.  It lives just under the shallow part of the ocean floor.  This one has been gone for a while since the shell is so bleached.  It's also a little broken, but that's alright.  The Sand Dollar is also rich with biblical symbolism. If you want to know, just Google "sand dollar biblical meaning" and many sites are available to educate.  Try it.  You might like what you read.

Thursday's Thinking of Shells

Today, Thursday, I want to think of myself lounging on the beach enjoying everything - the sand, the surf, big shells, little shells, shells that have a top ....  It is Thursday when our thoughts really turn to planning for the weekend.  We only have two days, we have to have  a plan and make the best of our weekend - even if the plan is to stay in bed and watch TV all weekend.  But you've still got to get through today and tomorrow (unless you have Friday off).  So dreaming and planning will have to do for now.  The beach is calling me.  Is the beach calling you?  Will you answer the call?  Or is something else calling you - the mountains, the yard, friends, family, the TV?  Well, dream on, and enjoy this Thursday as you get one day closer to the weekend.

Zig Zag Thursday

Isn't it fun to zig zag?  To go right, sharp left, then right, then left over and over again?  What fun!  And what better place is there to zig zag than the beach?  Yep.  Wish I was there right now.  But, in the meantime, I can zig zag and have fun right where I am.

Thursday's No April Fool Sunrise

So the sunrise on Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island, GA just really deserves another look.  The trees and "driftwood" there, although they're dead and old, are amazing.  And while you would think they would be too heavy for waves to bring up on the beach, well, there they are!

Saturday - On the Beach

This beach is called Plum Cove Beach and it is somewhere outside of Boston, MA.  It's a small little cove tucked in there, but it is worth the trip.  Of course if you ask me, any beach is worth the trip.  I love the tranquil feeling.  I want to feel tranquility on Saturdays.  

It's Saturday, so I hope you are feeling the way you want today, whether it's tranquility or excitability or something else.  Life's a beach.  Live it.  Enjoy your own special beach, wherever it is.

Friday's Sunset

I know you've been busy all day working toward the weekend.  Congratulations, you made it!  This is today's Tega Cay, SC sunset.  We had been out all day and were ready to get back home.  But, when I saw how pretty the sun was we took a detour to the "beach".  To the left we could view the actual sun setting, but there was also a "cloud" coming from the nuclear plant across the lake so I ruled that out.  It was still pretty though, just not what I wanted to show you.   I find myself staring at this photo and getting lost.  I can enjoy the Friday sunset as long as I want.

Thursday at the Beach

Wait.  What!?  There's no beach?   That's snow you say.  You're right.  Haha, fooled you!  More snow.  That's alright.  It was pretty.  But now I'm ready for warmer temperatures and springtime.  Except it won't happen just yet.  More cold temperatures and frozen icy roads still to come.  I am ready to see the sun though.  Soon we'll all enjoy warm weather and sunny days.  In the meantime I have faith that every one will enjoy this weather as much as possible, bundle up, and drive defensively and safely.  Thanks for looking.  See you tomorrow.
