Wednesday's Rain Celebration 12-14-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Wednesday.  There is no need for you to zoom in and see these birds any closer - ha.  This is actually a drive by shooting (photo, of course) in the pouring rain on my way home a couple of days ago.  I kept seeing strange stuff in the trees and finally realized it was buzzards in the trees.  Usually I see these guys in the sun drying their wings, or maybe they just like holding their wings out to the sun.  But this time it was raining and I've not ever seen this kind of behavior, so, of course I had my small camera so I rolled down my window, tried to stay dry and capture a usable photo.  These guys are loving the rain.  There are many people who also enjoy being out in the rain.  I prefer to be dry, but, to each his own, as the saying goes.

I hope you had a wonderfully dry (or wet, whatever you prefer) day.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Tuesday's View 12-13-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Tuesday.  Yes, it's a little cold (but it's supposed to be this time of year) and dreary but it's still a good day to view the scenery and do our best in whatever we do.

I hope you had one of your best days EVER today.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Monday's Beach Fun 12-12-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Monday.  Instead of going to work, let's play hooky and go to the beach.  Yes, it's a little cold out there but we can wrap up in a blanket and sit and enjoy the wind and surf.  The birds won't mind that we're there - in fact, if we take some bread, they will love us.  If we do take some bread we will also have to take an umbrella to shield us from the "presents" the birds may drop on us when we feed them.  No matter what we do, what we take, or how long we stay, the beach is always a perfect get away.

I hope you have a perfect day whether you work play.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Sunday's Central United Methodist Church in Florence, SC 12-11-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Sunday.  Let's go to Central United Methodist Church in Florence, South Carolina today.  This big and beautiful church has a website:  http://www.centralmethodist.net/.  It appears to be very much part of the community in Florence, so, if you're in town, take a chance on them.  Love seems to be the major theme from Central United Methodist as far as I can tell, and we do need more love everywhere in this country and beyond.

I hope you had plenty of love today.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Tuesday's Gator Float 12-06-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Tuesday.  Have you ever seen an alligator float?  You have now.  I came to my stash of pictures from the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge because I was thinking about alligators.  I met an older man today that, on his right hand, had only his thumb and pinky fingers.  I know the other three fingers had the first two digits of each removed.  I wasn't going to say anything, but when I asked him to sign a paper for me, he showed me and said something about how his writing was bad.  So, I asked him if he had worked in a saw mill.  He said, "No, (holding up his right hand) I lost these to an alligator."   "Well," said I, "I'm going to want to hear that story."   Except that I didn't get to hear that story, I began his study, we talked throughout, but nothing about the alligator.  He was gone before I thought of it again and now I can't stop thinking about what could have happened that he lost three fingers - why wasn't it four - or five - his whole hand.  Or..... was it really a saw mill accident and he was just joshing me?  Maybe I'll see him again one day and remember to ask him.  Anyway, that is why you get to see an alligator float.

I hope you had all your questions answered today.  Thanks for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Sunday's St. Peters Catholic Church 12-04-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Sunday.  This is St. Peters Catholic Church in Cheraw, SC.  The only things I could find out about this church are that it is part of the Diocese in Charleston, SC and that Father David Michael runs the masses.  It is lovely to look at, too.

I hope you had a lovely Sunday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Thursday's Early Cotton Press 12-01-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Thursday.  I want to show you an Early Cotton Press today that was reportedly made in 1798.  This one is located on Highway 38 in Latta, SC.  If you enlarge the photo you can read about this one's history.  Way back in the day (as they say), you would use the Cotton Press to compact a bale of cotton for storage and shipping.  We look back at those days with a kind of romanticism, but clearly those days were extremely hard on people - and oxen and mules.

I hope you had an easy Thursday.  Thanks for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Monday's Chimp Doesn't Do Mondays 11-28-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Monday.  My little chimpanzee says that he does not do Mondays.  I like his style.  There are many times that I don't want to do Mondays either.  I must do Mondays, just like everyone else and some are better than others.  I really try to make every day a good day, even Mondays.

I hope you had a good Monday today.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Sunday's Pee Dee Baptist Church 11-27-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Sunday.  This is Pee Dee Baptist Church along Highway 73/74 in Rockingham, NC.  I have to say that it is beautiful from the highway, especially at night.  Since I wasn't riding by at night this time, you just have to settle for the day time pick.  Haha.  Even during the daytime, though, I think it's pretty.

I hope you had a pretty Sunday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Friday's Fish Finder 11-25-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Friday.  Tonight I thought I would show you my Friday Fish Finder. You know, when I was younger, we had fish every Friday at school.  That's right - EVERY Friday; week after week after week.  It was always fried, too.  For the longest time, I thought that was the only way to cook fish.  But now, being the adult that I am, I have learned differently.  Rarely do I eat fried fish, mostly it's baked, steamed or on the grill.  Every now and then I even enjoy sushi.  The point is, all that fish on Friday as a child did not curb my enthusiasm for seafood.  It's quite likely that I eat fish three or four times a week.  That's still not as many times as this big, but graceful, Pelican eats fish per week.  I enjoy watching him fish whenever I get lucky enough.  The way he slams into the water, though, seems a little rough and looks like it might hurt a little.  It also looks like it would scare any fish away, but, he usually comes back up with a meal.  Fish for this guy!!

I hope you had a fabulous Friday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Thursday's Thanksgiving 11-24-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Thursday.  It's also Thanksgiving here in the United States.  So, Happy Thanksgiving as well!  This is my Thanksgiving bird who lives in the Reynolds Aviary at the Asheboro NC Zoo.  I put him in pencil sketch in the Picasa program and lightened him a little and, well, here you go.  I had a wonderful day with family and friends and great food, too.  I am thankful for all my blessings.

I hope you had a thankful day also.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Tuesday's Wide Open Spaces 11-22-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Tuesday.  This view reminds me of a song....  "Oh, give me land, lots of land - don't fence me in....." written by Bob Fletcher and Cole Porter.  Apparently, from Wikipedia, Bob Fletcher, from Helena, Montana wrote the poem, Cole Porter bought and "tweaked" the poem, composed the music and, well, now that song has been around since 1934.  Go ahead, have a listen to it on You Tube.  There are several different artists to choose from - choose to listen to one or all.  Afterwards, think about everywhere you've been and see if you have a place like this that reminds you of that song.  I'll bet that you do.  We all have a special, wide open place where we feel comfortable and free and love.

I hope you had a comfortable Tuesday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Monday's Peek-A-Boo Camellia 11-21-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Monday.  Today I wanted to give you a little Peek-A-Boo inside the delicate Camellia flower.  I enjoy looking at this.  For a while now, I've been typing and then erasing the things I love about this inner portion of the Camellia.  When I re-read things I wrote, they just didn't seem to convey my feelings adequately.  I guess sometimes life is like that - sometimes we feel things so deeply or intensely that we just can't seem to describe them well enough for others.

I hope you've felt like today was a marvelous Monday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Sunday's Pee Dee United Methodist Church 11-20-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Sunday.  We were travelling down Highway 73/74 today and found a great view!  You're looking at Pee Dee United Methodist Church in Rockingham, NC.  As far as I was concerned today had the perfect sky and the changing leaf color made for good contrast on this pretty little church.  Today has been a great day.

I hope you also had a great Sunday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Saturday's Duck Season 11-19-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Saturday.  Today began Duck Hunting Season in South Carolina.  We were awakened by many gun shots this morning.  It was a little scary.  I was glad I was inside.  This duck is not afraid.  He is safe inside the Reynolds Aviary in the Asheboro NC Zoo.  From what I've read, this is a Northern Pintail Duck.  He's a cutie pie without any color - except for the tag on his leg.  He's lucky he will continue to be unafraid throughout Duck Hunting Season.

I hope you were had a great non scary Saturday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Thursday's Biter 11-17-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Thursday.  I know someone who wants to take a bite out of today.  This parrot hangs out at the Reynolds Aviary at the Asheboro NC Zoo.  He is usually hanging out in a tree watching others pass.  You'll miss him if you don't look up as you're walking along the path.  You might want to know where he is anyway so you don't get a "present" dropped on your head - haha.

I hope you had a great Thursday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Monday's Peek-A-Boo Owl 11-14-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Monday.  Peek-A-Boo!  This owl is checking everything out while keeping a low profile in her nest.  I think maybe a lot of us do that on Mondays.  We just try to keep our head down while checking out everything that's coming our way for the week.  It's like we're shy on Monday's.  We get over that shyness by the end of the week.

What were you shy about today?  I hope you had a marvelous Monday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Sunday's Latta United Methodist Church 11-13-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Sunday.  This is Latta United Methodist Church in Latta, Dillon County, SC.  It was built in 1908 and is now on the National Historic Register.  It is a beautiful, big, stately church in downtown Latta.  I was lucky enough to have a beautiful, but bright, sky when I came upon this beauty.  Latta is the second largest town in Dillon County with a population (in 2010) of 1379.  I'll bet when the parishioners walk up and into the Church, they feel a certain kind of pride and joy in entering such a wonderful place of worship.  But, then again, all places of worship, whether they're big and stately or small and cozy, or even outside among nature, are where we commune with God, and rejoice.

I hope you had a rejoice filled Sunday, no matter where you were located.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Saturday's Luck of the Ibis 11-12-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Saturday.  The Scarlet Ibis is up a tree and I get to photograph him.  What a lucky gal I am!  And, after all, aren't weekends for the lucky?  I mean, you work all week and then you get to do something fun and then, well, you get lucky.  I guess what lucky is depends on your definition of lucky.

I hope you enjoyed your Saturday and were lucky today.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Friday's Feathery Friend 11-11-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Friday.  This little bird is staring at me, make him stop!  Did you ever do that as a child - complain to your parent that your brother or sister was staring at you - making you uncomfortable.  "Stop looking at your sister (brother)" your mom or dad would say.  Did you stop, or did you keep staring?  Or, did you look away for a few seconds, and then begin staring again, only to have your parent repeat the "stop" order?  Fun times, huh?  We laugh about those times as adults now, but back then it was some serious stuff.  My bird friend is a beautiful reminder of "the stare"!

What happened to remind you of something from your childhood today?  I hope it made you smile.  I also hope you had a fabulous Friday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Thursday's Covered Bridge 11-10-16

Hello and happy Thursday.  Welcome to Pisgah Covered Bridge in North Carolina.  This is on of two North Carolina covered bridges.  If you're interested in going, the address is 6925 Pisgah Covered Bridge Road, Asheboro, NC.  Forty dollars in 1911 built this bridge crossing the West Fork of the Little River.  When you're done exploring and photographing the Bridge, you can cross over on the rocks, through the river, and walk along the path in the area.  New places are always fun to explore.

I hope you had a wonderful day.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Wednesday's Sleeping Arctic Fox 11-09-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Wednesday.   Maybe it's a sleepy Wednesday.  This is an arctic fox.  In the winter his coat will turn white.  Pretty cool.  And, he'll sleep a lot.  Last night I was up later than usual and today I awoke earlier than usual, so I'm ready to curl up like this beauty - underneath the covers on a bed, of course, and sleep, sleep, sleep.  I might just want to sleep for the next 4 years.  Ha.  Ok, well now I'm getting sleepier by the word, and I hear the bed calling my name.

I hope you get a good night's sleep.  Thanks for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Tuesday's Beach Longing 11-08-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Tuesday.  Can we just go to the beach?  Please?  It is getting a little colder now and I go to work when it's dark and come home when it's dark and I just want some sunshine and salty water and sand.  Maybe this weekend I can drive over for a while, even though it's cooler now, and relax on the beach.  As long as it's sunny, I can layer my clothing.  Plus, a walk on the pier will be welcomed.

I hope you had a welcoming Tuesday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Hello and happy Monday.  Peek-a-boo from the bullfrog in my canal.  This guy was hard to catch with the camera.  As soon as he sees me, he croaks and goes back under water.  Sometimes persistence pays.

I hope you had a great Monday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Sunday's Friends Church 11-06-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Sunday.  Welcome to Pleasant View Friends Church in Eagle Springs, NC,  established in 1938.  This is a Quaker Church.  Do you know what it means to be a Quaker?  Either way, I'll tell you the definition according to Dictionary.com:  "a member of the Religious Society of Friends, a Christian movement founded by George Fox circa 1650 and devoted to peaceful principles. Central to the Quakers' belief is the doctrine of the “Inner Light,” or sense of Christ's direct working in the soul. This has led them to reject both formal ministry and all set forms of worship."  I'm liking the Quaker thoughts.  If you'd like to learn a little more about Quakerism, check out:  http://www.beliefnet.com/faiths/2001/06/what-liberal-quakers-believe.aspx.

I hope you had a wonderful Sunday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Saturday's Merry Christmas Cactus 11-04-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Saturday.  It's Christmas in November at my house - well, Christmas Cactus that is.  This beauty is blooming early and I must say I could use a little Christmas Cactus cheer.  While I do enjoy looking at the natural flower, tonight I changed the hue a little bit, added a little shadowing and blurred the edges a little.  And, at the end I noticed there seems to be a little pink heart at the bottom right of the photo.  I like a little heart in all my days.

I hope you had a sensational Saturday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Friday's Great Blue Heron 11-04-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton

Hello and happy Friday.  I hope you're in the mood for fishing today.  Well, if you're not, my little friend here, the Great Blue Heron, is surely in the mood.  Fishing for me is relaxing, entertaining and social.  I don't have to be good at fishing.  For the Great Blue Heron, fishing is vital to survival.  That is pretty stressful for them I imagine.  I like to eat fish but I'm glad my life doesn't depend on me being able to catch a fish.

I hope you had a good Friday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Hello and happy Thursday. This little "star" of a flower was found in my yard this week.  I don't know why I had a few blooms at this time of year, but I appreciate and enjoy.  We're all stars, in our own way, haha.

I hope you let your star shine today.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Hello and happy Wednesday.  This is my big eyed bird that I saw at the Asheboro NC Zoo a while back.  It's either trying to listen to what I'm saying or looking at me or both - it's just hard to tell.  However, when I'm at the zoo, I say it's always a good day.

I hope you had a good day today.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Hello and happy Monday.  Also, happy Halloween.  This little anole was playing a little peek-a-boo with me yesterday in the corner of my metal roof.   It looks like he's straining his eye to look down on me.  I'm going to say he's my treat for Halloween.  He's sugar free, too.  :)

I hope you have a marvelous Monday.  Thanks for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Sunday's St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hamlet, NC 10-30-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton

Hello and happy Sunday.  It was a beautiful day when we took a drive and found ourselves admiring this beauty.  This is St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hamlet, North Carolina.  A search of the internet revealed that there are many St. Paul's Lutheran Churches around the county.  This one in Hamlet may be a little bit different than some of the others.  This church is considered ELCA or Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  In 1988, the American Lutheran Church, The Association of Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church in America bodies merged for form ELCA.  At this point they have well over 3 million baptized members.  The Lutherans are a Protestant group dating back to at least the 17th century.  If you'd like to read a little more about them, a good website is:  https://www.elca.org/en/About/Mission.

I hope you have a sensational Sunday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Saturday's Squirrel 10-29-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Saturday.  Say hello to my little friend.  He (or she) has been out in my yard quite a lot lately getting ready for the winter.  Sometimes he has a snack, other times he finds places to bury his treasure.  There are times when he's talking with his friends while up in the tree.  They sound as if they're arguing, but, since I don't speak squirrel, I just don't know.  Hopefully, they could be telling each other jokes.

I hope you had something to joke about on this beautiful day.  Thanks for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Friday's Flower Fun 10-28-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Friday.  I just wanted to have a little fun today with the last of this year's lantana.  I put my cute little photo in pencil and fiddled with that for a minute, then did a focal zoom on my one sharp flower, and then boosted the saturation.  Oh, and for a final bit of fun around the edges, I added a little vignetting, purely for my pleasure.  :)

I hope you had a little bit of pleasure today.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Thursday's Little Purple Flower 10-27-16

Hello and happy Thursday.  As I've heard it said, "Today's a great day to have a great day", and so I did.  Now I'm tired and I want to look at something lovely, and rest.  I found what I want to look at and now, I'm sharing that with you.  Looking at this little flower had me in a trance like state for a while.  Then again, I might just might be really tired and unable to move.  Haha

Anyway, I hope you found something beautiful to look at today.   Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

I hope your Wednesday went smoothly today.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Tuesday's Nest Building 10-25-16

Hello and happy Tuesday.  Building a nest is hard work.  Building a nest takes time.  Building a nest takes teamwork.  I've heard of times when couples have almost divorced over arguments during the house (nest) building process.  I'm sure that won't happen to these two.  After all, Tuesdays are for twosomes.....or something like that.   :)

I hope you had a terrific Tuesday.   Thanks for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Monday's Change is Here 10-24-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Monday.  There aren't many of these dragonflies around since it's beginning to get cooler, but I still see them occasionally.  Dragonflies symbolize change, and really, change is something that happens everyday so we may as well embrace it and make the best of whatever comes our way.  Mondays always bring about a change - all of a sudden we have a new week to tackle.  We just need to declare that this is going to be a great week and help make it happen.

I hope you had a great Monday.  Thanks for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Hello and happy Saturday.  I just want to you relax tonight and enjoy my little, teeny, tiny flower with water droplets on it, little, pepper looking yellow stamen and white, oh, so delicate petals.  These little plants with flowers are less than 4 inches tall and bring great big joy to me.  Sometimes it's the small things in life that mean so much.

I hope you had joy in your life today.  Thanks for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Friday's Faith Reminder 10-21-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Friday.  As many of you know, a couple of weeks ago Hurricane Matthew came through our area, then went up to Lumberton, NC, blasted them with about 17 inches of rain, damaged the Lumber River's levies or dams and all that water flooded Lumberton and headed south, joined the Little Pee Dee River and caused our flooding.  The Little Pee Dee River crested on the 12th or 13th of October at over 17 feet which is more than 8 feet above flood stage.  This kind of flooding hasn't happened since 1928 when the Little Pee River crested at 16 feet.  I guess we made history.

Today was the first time we were able to get back to our house to see the destruction caused by Matthew.  My house is about 4 feet off the ground, a good 50-75 feet from the shallow canal that is indirectly fed from the Little Pee Dee River.  We were evacuated by boat the week before last (October 10th) when the water reached our doorway.  At that time the Little Pee Dee River was as 14.5 feet and were previously told that was as high as the water would get.  But things changed and we took what little possessions we had to have and the dog and cat (I would not leave without them).
I really can't explain what it felt like to go inside and see my brand new, glossy bamboo floors dulled, buckled, and molded; walking on them, sometimes tripping over the buckling; hearing the carpet in the bedrooms squish as I walked in and the bumps left by the swelling of the sub floor; the smell of mold and mildew and food from the refrigerator and freezer that had been closed and without power for two weeks.  Yes, we opened the windows and doors and wore knee high boots and gloves.  Tomorrow we will go back and also add masks to our attire.

As badly as it smelled inside, the stench outside was just as bad and, at times, worse.  We know that our neighbors lost their goats in the flood and many others lost pets and other livestock they were unable to save.  I grieve also for their loss.

We have a pond in our yard and we feed the fish.  With the flood we are sure the fish went on to a bigger world, but we tried to safe the food in a tightly closed metal container.  It didn't work.  I guess the water was standing in the room a little too long and it seeped into the container ruining the food; so we opened the container, took it out to the pond and poured it in.

Now I'm getting to where today's photo came from.  As I was returning to the house from the pond I went through an area still slightly under water.  It was there that I noticed this page through the water.  It looked like music so I looked closer.  Now, it looked like a page out of a hymnal.  I looked around and there were no other pages, no book cover, just this one page.  I carefully plucked it from the water, and sure enough, it was a page from a hymnal.  As you can see, the first song is "Now Every Morning is the Love", and the second song is, "Lord in the Morning Thou Shalt Hear".   Now, I am not a very religious person - I think I may be a bit more spiritual, so I am going to take this as a sign that I should continue to have faith that everything will be alright; that everything will work out.  It's not going to be easy, but that's the way it goes sometimes.  You just have to keep on keeping on; keep working; keep smiling; keep singing!  Karaoke anyone?

I hope you had something to sing about today.  Thanks for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Thursday's Conversation 10-20-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Thursday.  This cattle egret seems to be saying, "What are you looking at?!"  "Well, I'm looking at you, pretty bird", is what I say.  Of course it could also be saying, "What do you mean, it's only Thursday?  I thought it was Friday."   "Well, pretty bird," I say, "when you wake tomorrow it will be Friday."  Yes, I am one of those people who make up conversations based on facial expressions - even on birds.  It's just something fun for me.  How about you?  Do you ever make up conversations?  Think about the expression on this cattle egret's face - what do you think he'd say?

I hope you had wonderful conversations today.  I thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Wednesday's 'Fro Bird 10-19-16

Hello and happy Wednesday.  I'd like you to see a young Cormorant today.  This young one looks like he's sporting an "afro", or "big hair".  I saw this cutie when I was near Boston a few weeks ago.  I don't know if he's a little angry because I spotted him or because the wind's blowing, but I like his style!

I hope you were "styling" today.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Tuesday's Pointy Flower 10-18-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Tuesday.  I thought I'd show a fun looking little flower tonight.  It looks like it has a lot of points, but they're not sharp, so no pain if you touch it - haha.  Sometimes, like this flower, there's many points in a conversation, many points to be made in a day, or at work.  Sometimes people say, "you missed the point", or "the point is.....".  There are just many, many points all around us.  And now, there are many in the flower.  Sounds about right to me.

I hope all your points were heard today.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Monday's Lazy Chimp 10-17-16

Hello and happy Monday.  This chimp says make that a "Lazy" Monday.  Well, now that I've finished working for the day, I'm going to act just like this chimp and be lazy for the rest of the night.  I think I'll nap on something a little softer than a tree.

I hope you had a little time to be lazy today.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Sunday's Mullins Presbyterian Church 10-16-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Sunday.  Today I am showing you Mullins Presbyterian Church in Mullins, SC.  I've read that this Church was incorporated in 1899.  It's a great looking Church.  I'll bet it had a service today even though Hurricane Matthew went through last week and since then there has been much flooding throughout this area and in Nichols, SC from the Little Pee Dee River.  Many, many people have lost their homes; some were evacuated from their homes by boat.  Some people are still living in shelters; others are with friends or family.  The electricity still hasn't been restored everywhere.  In some homes the electricity will never be restored because they are a total loss.  Many people did not have or could not afford flood insurance and have lost everything.  Every possession except what little they could take when they evacuated.  And yet, I was there yesterday and I can attest that the people of Mullins are just as nice as they were before the Hurricane.  Yes, they have more problems than they had the week before, but it hasn't broken them.  They know that they will get through this and neighbors help neighbors, no matter what.  We can go to different churches, have different opinions and different political views, but when it comes to getting help and giving help, all those differences are set aside.  We are all in this together and we will help each other.  We will be kind, helpful, caring, protective and loving toward each other.  Everything will be okay - - - eventually.  It is a wonderful feeling to be part of such a community.  I hope you are part of such a community.

I hope you had a sensational Sunday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Saturday's Lion 10-15-16

Copyright 2015 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Saturday.  Today might be a day to get up, get out and get going - to roar!!  Oh wait - this guy is yawning.  Oh well, I guess that means today might be a day to get up, get something to eat, wander around, maybe watch a little tv and then - yawn - go back to sleep.  Well, some days not even the mighty lion feels like roaring.  So maybe, after a long week with lots of hard work, it's fine to take a day to relax and do nothing if that's what you want.  I think I'll take a cue from this mighty lion and relax today.

I hope you had a wonderfully relaxing Saturday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Friday's Majestic Elephant 10-14-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Friday.  Today I have for you a portrait of the majestic elephant.  I wasn't aware of this until today but the elephant is on the endangered list.  Elephants are being killed for their ivory by unethical, unlawful, greedy individuals who have no regard for life.  And, it seems, also for sport by wealthy individuals.  But this beautiful creature was found at the Asheboro, where his or her life is protected.  It feels nice to be protected sometimes.  I thank the elephant for being so close so as to allow me a chance at photographs.

I hope you felt grateful and protected today.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.
