Thursday's "Star" Power Flower 11-03-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Thursday. This little "star" of a flower was found in my yard this week.  I don't know why I had a few blooms at this time of year, but I appreciate and enjoy.  We're all stars, in our own way, haha.

I hope you let your star shine today.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Tuesday's Unusual Duo 08-30-16

Hello and happy Tuesday.  Today I feel as though I need a flower duo to see me through.  Azaleas don't usually bloom this time of year, so these are a couple of extraordinary blooms that beat the odds.  So, I feel as though I've won the lottery!

I hope Tuesday was a good day for you and you saw something extraordinary!  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

A Ribbon Like Tuesday 04-12-16

Copyright 2016 AJ Horton
Hello and happy Tuesday.  Yes, it's another azalea, but I just couldn't resist.  The petals look as ribbons to me and I enjoy it very much.  Ribbons can accessorize our presents/gifts, our door wreaths, balloons, to wrap our cut flowers, and our hair in order to make them more attractive.  So, why then, can't ribbons adorn flowers?  Do you suppose that people got the idea to invent ribbons because of the ribbon-like appearance from some flowers' edges?  I wouldn't be surprised.  We can get a lot of good ideas from nature.

I hope you had a terrific Tuesday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Star Filled Friday 04-08-16

Hello and happy Friday.  You know, although I have been around azaleas all my life, I never noticed until yesterday that the azalea flower looks like a star!  So, it reminded me that I'm a star - and so are you.  We are all stars living on this wonderful planet.  And, if we are careful and caring and responsible, we can take care of this earth and enjoy all the gifts we have been given and prosper, and  still have plenty left over for our future stars to do the same.

I hope you enjoyed a star filled and prosperous Friday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Thursday's Azalea 03-31-16

Hello and happy Thursday.  So, today I saw this license plate that said, "CRE8", and I thought, "That's a cool license plate".  I didn't think much more about it until I sat down to work on the blog tonight.  I knew I would do one of my azaleas that are so pretty in my yard.  As I was deciding on which special picture, the message on that license plate entered my mind and I knew what I had to do.
This is a crop from one of my favorite pics; I added some grain; chose the pencil sketch filter; faded it out a little and, well, here it is!  I hope you enjoy it.  And, to whomever owns that license plate, thank you for the reminder.

I also hope you had a special and "CRE8"ive Thursday.  Thanks for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Tuesday's Spring Azalea 03-22-16

Hello and happy Tuesday.  This is one of my azalea blooms, which is just in time for spring.   I love azaleas.  When I was growing up, my Mom had planted some wonderful azalea plants around the front porch and they grew bigger and better every year.  To my recollection those azaleas were never trimmed, and we didn't care - they were fabulous!  As an adult I have planted several azaleas at places I've lived and not one has ever flourished.  The one you see today was planted by the previous owner of my current house and I am grateful.  And, I have always been grateful to my mother for all of the beauty she brought into my life.

I hope you enjoyed this beautiful spring day and that you had occasion to be grateful.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Azalea Monday 02-15-16

Hello and happy Monday.  We have been having too many grey days where I live lately and I would like to see a little color tonight.  So, I brought out one of my azalea photos that I took from my yard last October.  This was after a rain and I love the water droplets on it.  I also liked that it bloomed in October since it had already bloomed last spring.  Today, this was just what I needed - to think bright, cheery, colorful thoughts to chase the grey away from my mind.

I hope you had a colorful and cheery Monday.  Thanks for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Thursday's Azalea 12-3-15

Hello and happy Thursday.  Today I have another flower - azalea - that shouldn't bloom during this time of year.  That's ok by me.  I am going to be grateful and enjoy my unexpected blessing.
After all, I've been told we should find at least three things that we're grateful for every day.  That way we never have a bad day.

I'm sharing one of my three good things with you.  I hope maybe it will become one of your grateful things today as well.  If not, well that's ok.  At least you looked,  Oh wait, your looking makes me have another thing to be grateful for today!

I hope you had a great Thursday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Flower Power Monday 11-2-15

Copyright 2015 AJ Horton

Hello and happy Monday.  There's been a lot of rain lately and I'm kind of tired of it.  I do realize that we need the rain.  Although it's like that song sung by Karen Carpenter of the Carpenters that goes, "Rainy days and Mondays always get me down".  I know she's singing about two different days - or is she?  So what happens if the rainy days are Mondays; are we doubly "down"?  Well, sometimes I am.  But then I look for beauty, and I usually find it.  This time it is a flower - an azalea.  This azalea shouldn't be blooming this time of year.  Azaleas usually bloom in spring.   I am glad that this particular shrub of mine decided to give me a couple of blooms in the fall.  I am glad for the beauty of the flower and I love the color.  I am glad for the rain that nourishes this plant and leaves drops on my flower for me to take a lovely photo.  I am glad that I am no longer "down" on this rainy day AND Monday!

What about you?  Do rainy days and Mondays get you down?  If so, remember all the beauty in your life around you and become lifted up.

I hope you had a lovely Monday.  Thanks for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Tuesday's Azalea

Copyright AJ Horton

It's still azalea time in the South and thankfully some azaleas are still blooming.  I'm so glad because this is such a beautiful flower.  My mother loved them and they would actually grow for her.  Me, I can plant them all I want, but they decide NOT to grow for me.  I guess I have no "green thumb" like my mother.  Fortunately, I have had the sense to buy a house where azaleas are already established, so I can still enjoy them.  I can also enjoy the bees that stop by to help pollinate and keep the cycle going.
I hope that you've had a wonderful Tuesday.  I hope that you were able to enjoy the beauty and maybe even the aroma of azaleas.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.
