Hello and happy Sunday.  Today you're looking at Candor Presbyterian Church in Candor, NC.  Services are at 11 a.m. on Sundays and that's all the information I could find on this particular church.  I really like the stained glass windows and the steeple with cross on top.  And you know what they say, "When all else fails, look up."  That advice has always helped.  What advice has always helped you?

I hope you've had a wonderful Sunday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Saturday's Surprise Wood Storks 07-16-16

Hello and happy Saturday.  After a long and happy day with some of my favorite people at a festival and a park in Candor, NC, we made our way to Mullins, SC.  As we drew closer to home, I noticed something unusual in the tree and we just had to stop.  Unfortunately, I had my short lens on the camera, and I thought these may have been Ibis.  I was wrong, of course, as these are actually wood storks.  I have kayaked in preservation areas where wood stork homes have been provided, but I never have seen one, until today.  What a great surprise!  Upon looking it up on the internet, I found that these guys are social and enjoy being high in the tree.  It's nice to keep gathering new information and is a great end to a wonderful day.

I hope you had a wonderful Saturday and maybe found a nice surprise.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

Sunday's Church 01-24-16

Hello and happy Sunday.  We're going back to church this Sunday, this time in Candor, North Carolina.  The church you see is the Macedonia Presbyterian Church on the Troy-Candor Road.
Once again I could find no information about this church with a search of the internet.  I guess from now on I will have to plan ahead and telephone the church leader and get information.  Wish me luck.

What I did find, maybe, is that Macedonia is/was a country to the north of Greece.  I say maybe because it seems there's a lot of debate going on as to whether or not Macedonia was considered a part of Greece during Biblical times.  Macedonia is the first place in Europe where Paul preached the Gospel.  According to the Book of Acts, Paul went to Macedonia because he had a vision of a man from there asking for help.

As for the formation of the Presbyterian Church, a 16th Century Reformer named John Calvin was instrumental.  His theology went mostly along the lines of Martin Luther, but differed in that Calvin believed in predestination and eternal security.

Whatever you believe, I hope you had a most sensational Sunday.  Thank you for looking.  See you tomorrow.

A Peachy Saturday

A Bushel and a Peck and a Hug Around The Neck

Happy Saturday.  Today was the Peach Festival in Candor, North Carolina.  Candor is the Peach Capital of North Carolina.  If you happen to love peaches as I do, then you would love this festival.  Of course there are peaches for sale, but there are other vendors as well.  The obligatory food trucks are there, as well as rides for children, handmade jewelry and pottery, local health and other service agencies.  Did I tell you about the two bands they had playing today?  Both were very good.  And the peaches - about everything you could ask for from a peach - peach cobbler, peach cupcakes, peach ice cream, etc.  It's just a perfectly peachy day and I love this day.
As I was walking to the festival this morning and thinking about purchasing peaches and this blog, it came to me what I would talk about this evening.  All of a sudden I had a flashback to my childhood and I knew I had to tell you.  After  my sister and I would get ready for bed each evening, my mother would come in to say our prayers with us.  Then she would ask if we knew how much she loved us.  And, of course we would respond, "How much?"  Then she would say what I still love to hear today, "A bushel, and a peck, and a mmmm-mmmmmm, hugggggg around the neck!"  And she would give each of us a great big hug.  It was a wonderful way to send us off to sleep.

So, I bought a half bushel and a half peck and I already had the hugging monkey, so I took the above pictures and merged them to show you a bushel and a peck.  The monkey hug is just for fun.  I like hugs.  I like fun.  And I like fun hugs.

I hope you had a sensational Saturday.  I hope you have someone to give you a great big hug at bedtime.  I have found that hugs are also good at anytime throughout the day.  Thanks for looking.  See you tomorrow.
