Does Monday Have You By The Throat? 02-29-16

Hello and happy Monday.  Sometimes Mondays are hard days.  Sometimes maybe you feel like Monday has you by the throat.  Well, yeah, maybe, but at least you're not this lizard!  This little guy started his day by minding his own business and then WHAM!, things went from good to very bad.  Plus, it is just NOT going to get any better for the lizard.  He fought a good fight, though.

But back to Monday.  Some Mondays you feel like Monday has you by the throat like the lizard and some Mondays you feel like the egret, conquering every little problem that comes your way.  Which were you today?  

This picture was taken in Downtown Tampa, Florida.  I was lucky enough to see the egret just when he caught the lizard.  The egret is different from the ones I usually see - especially because it's smaller, has a yellow bill, some color on its chest, head and back, and is nowhere near the water!  So, I looked it up and this egret is called a Cattle Egret.  It likes to hang out in grassy fields (although this isn't one of them) and being around livestock (although there's no livestock around here either).  I found out that the coloring on his chest, head and back comes about during breeding.  Maybe this little Cattle Egret came to Tampa to find love.  How sweet!

Friday's Sunrise

Hello.  Happy Friday.  Today I had the opportunity to take some sunrise pictures at St. Augustine Beach in Florida.  Since it's getting later in the year - I can't believe it's October already - I can actually get out of bed a little later to catch a sunrise.  I guess there is one good thing about the shorter days and the coming cool/cold weather.

Keep Trying Saturday

Hello on Saturday.  This camel that I found at one of the Florida Zoos, is working hard to reach for those little tufts of grass.  Just a little farther and he has at least one.  He's being stopped by that post in his way, so he has to really give it all he's got to get that little bit of green.  Isn't that what life is about? We decide what we want and we go after it.  Along the way toward getting what we want, there are obstacles that are either just there because of life, or there are people who become obstacles in one way or another.  Whatever the obstacles we must overcome them.  Sometimes just that little extra effort and reach gets our goal.   Sometimes we have to try again and again.  Just a little farther.....

Happy Thursday to you.  It's no secret that I love the water.  So does this guy. I photographed this one while on vacation in Florida a few years ago. I enjoy the memories and feelings that this photo represents.  Some people think pelicans are big, chunky and ugly, but I think they are just the right size, graceful and beautiful.  This is a brown pelican.  Although it's a large bird, the brown pelican is the smallest of the types of pelicans.  Another fun fact about the brown pelican is that it is Louisiana's state bird.

Lego Saturday?

Sometimes Saturday is for play.  When you play, do you ever play with Legos?  Did you know that Disneyworld in Orlando, FL has a "downtown" where you can see some very fine Lego objects like this dragon.  If you have a son or daughter that loves to play with Legos, you should know that some kids grow up to make some good money making dragons and whatever else one's imagination can make with Legos.  And, there are many, many things I've seen a person can make with Legos.  Isn't that a kick?  

I hope you've had a "kick" this Saturday!  Maybe had some visiting time with friends and/or family?  Maybe time alone?  Maybe just a wonderful day?

Wednesday???

Wednesday?  What can I say about Wednesday?   This ostrich from one of the Florida zoos is curious as to what I'm able to say.  Well not much unfortunately.  He has me mesmerized with his eyes.  All I want to do is stare back.  I'm pretty sure that, since he's now a photograph, that he will win any staring contest we/I play.  And yet I continue to stare at him.  I wonder what he was thinking at the time.  Was he wondering what that weird thing was at my face making that clicking sound?  Was he thinking that was actually my face and how strange I looked? Was he thinking I was annoying him and wishing I would go away?  So many questions come to mind.   I think maybe I'm the only one with questions.  Maybe he has no questions.  Maybe he lives just for the moment.  Maybe there are times that we all live just for the moment - and that's when we have our most memorable times.  Yes, maybe. 

Were you able to have some "just for the moment" times today?  Something you'll remember and retell later?  As the days and years pass, is it easier to have those times?  Or is it harder?  So many questions.

Whatever happened today, whatever you did, I hope you enjoyed it. It is Wednesday after all and the week is half way over.  Always a reason to celebrate.  Thanks for looking - even staring if you wanted.  See you tomorrow.
